Archived media is now instantly accessible, usable, and sharable through axle 2017 software with the intelligent StrongBox LTFS NAS solution, delivering the simplicity and performance of NAS and the economy of tape

BOSTON, April 17, 2017 — NAB 2017. axle Video, the leader in affordable, storage-agnostic media management software, and StrongBox Data Solutions (SDS), a leading vendor of large-scale intelligent archives and data solutions, have announced that axle 2017, the latest edition of axle’s award-winning software, has been successfully integrated with StrongBox LTFS NAS active archive solution. The two companies will be exhibiting at this year’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 24 – 27, 2017, in NAB booths SL13609 (axle Video) and SL7613 (Dternity by Fujifilm).

For media professionals, StrongBox is the industry’s simplest way to leverage the economics of tape to dramatically reduce storage costs without impacting user access. StrongBox provides unified access to multiple storage tiers such as flash, disk-based storage, public and private cloud, and LTFS data tape in a fully-managed active archive. The system is exceptionally flexible, supporting multi-site workflows, including off-site DR and cloud storage, drag-and-drop content management, and easy scaling. For users and applications, the system appears like any standard CIFS/NFS mount point or S3 bucket. StrongBox’s policy engine automatically takes care of securely migrating data to the right tier/location transparently to users.

With the integrated solution of axle 2017 and StrongBox LTFS NAS, it is now possible to access all media through axle 2017’s browser interface, with StrongBox acting as an active archive in conjunction with existing primary storage. axle 2017 software indexes all media, creates and maintains proxies of the media, and makes them searchable and widely accessible through its radically simple, intuitive user experience. High resolution media that are stored on high-speed working storage (SAN or NAS) in a postproduction network can be drag and dropped to a StrongBox-managed archive, while low resolution proxy media, metadata and subclipping information are kept live and searchable.

Sam Bogoch, CEO of axle Video, said “We’re delighted to be working with the innovative team at SDS and have found StrongBox to be an elegant, straightforward integration with axle 2017. It makes different tiers of storage appear to be one single volume, and fits right in with our radically simple, browser-based architecture. As axle’s software continues to scale up into larger deployments of over 2 million assets, StrongBox’s scalable storage solutions are going to be a great fit for anyone looking to archive large amounts of video and audio content.”

“The combination of axle 2017 software and StrongBox LTFS NAS is a powerful mix that will improve user workflows, reduce IT administrative overhead, and enable significant reduction in storage costs,” said Floyd Christofferson, SVP Products StongBox Data Solutions. “By connecting axle 2017’s powerful media management tools with the simplicity of StrongBox, customers can focus on using their content, not on struggling to manage it.”
